Muzeum železné opony – muzeum nabízí pohled na ostrahu hranic od 1. republiky až po současnost. Hlavní část expozice je věnována ostraze hranic spojené se železnou oponou.
Muzeum železné opony ve Valticích prezentuje mnohaletou historii služby na státní hranici se zvláštním důrazem na období mezi léty 1951 až 1989, kdy zde službu vykonávala pohraniční stráž, a kdy byla vynakládána snaha o absolutní neprostupnost státní hranice doveden za využití ženijně technických zařízení, tedy takzvané železné opony, téměř k dokonalosti.
V muzeu je k vidění vedle množství uniforem, zbraní a výstroje i velký počet fotografií a dokumentů přibližujících prezentované pohnuté časy na hranicích. Zajímavostí určitě je i rekonstrukce železné opony, nebo skutečná cela!

Našince potěší, že infopanely jsou vybaveny textem v češtině. Zároveň příchozí obdrží leták se stručným přehledem dějin hradu, plánem prohlídky a reprodukcí dobové grafiky.
Laa an der Thaya (40 km) je upravené pohraniční městečko proslulé termálními lázněmi, které se těší velké oblibě, a to nejen kvůli venkovnímu bazénu se slanou vodou, kde hraje podvodní hudba. Dalším zajímavým místem je bezesporu sousední městečko Hanftal, které konopí nese dokonce přímo ve svém názvu.
Novomlýnské nádrže – kaskáda tří vodních nádrží – slouží ke koupání, k rybolovu, windsurfingu či lodní dopravě. Okolí je vhodné pro pěší výlety a cykloturistiku. Po hrázi vede silnice spojující Dolní Věstonice a Strachotín.

Falkenstein Castle (20 km) – is a freely accessible ruin of a castle towering directly above the village of the same name. The current owner, Georg Thum-Vrints has opened the castle ruin to visitors again.
The Almond orchard Hustopeče (30 km) – A 9 km long almond orchard trail is a natural rarity in Central Europe, as it consists of 1200 trees, which were planted here in 1949.
Das Museum gibt Einblick in die “Sicherheitsvorkehrungen” des Grenzübergangs der 1. Republik bis hin zur Gegenwart. Der größte Teil der Ausstellung ist der Grenzsicherheit aus der Zeit des “Eisernen Vorhangs” gewidmet.
Das Museum in Valtice präsentiert im Besonderen die Details der Jahre 1951 bis 1989, in denen Grenzbeamte den Versuch unternahmen, eine absolute Undurchlässigkeit der Grenze zu erreichen – fast bis zur Perfektion!
Im Museum sind nicht nur Uniformen, Waffen und die damalige Ausstattung der Grenzpolizei zu sehen, sondern auch eine große Sammlung von Fotografien und Dokumenten aus der damaligen, unruhigen Zeit. Besonders interessant dürften in jedem Fall ein Nachbau der ehemaligen Grenze oder einer echten Gefängniszelle sein!

Die Nove Mlyny Stauseen sind eine Kaskade von drei Stauseen hintereinander gereiht. Sie dienen hauptsächlich dem Fischfang, Baden, Windsurfing oder Bootsfahrten. Die Umgebung ist sehr gut für Spaziergänge und Radtouren geeignet.
Die Lednice-Valtice Region wurde durch die Bauten der Liechtensteiner berühmt: Majestätische Schlösser, romantischen Ruinen mit typischen Aussichtstürmen und fantastische Aussichtspunkte.
Im archäologischen Park Pavlov (19 km entfernt) befindet sich die Ausstellung einer 25-30 tausend Jahre alten Siedlung der einstigen Mammutjäger in Pavlov.
