Cyklistický závod navazuje na bohatou minulost ze 70. – 80. let, kdy do Hlohovce jezdila kompletní československá špička cyklistů k jarním nominačním závodům na Závod Míru.
V roce 2011 jsme díky podpoře hlohoveckých radních, rodáků a především sponzorů tuto tradici obnovili a opět jsme se stali „otvírákem“ cyklistické sezóny, tedy prvním jarním závodem v Čechách a na Moravě. Jde nejen o vrcholnou sportovní akci, nýbrž také o kulturní a společenskou událost.

The cycling race builds on the rich history of the 1970s – 1980s, when the entire Czechoslovak top cyclists rode to Hlohovec for the spring nomination races at the Peace Race.
In 2011, thanks to the support of councillors from Hlohovec, locals and especially sponsors, this special tradition was restored and once again Hlohovec has become the “opener” of the cycling season, the first spring race in Bohemia and Moravia. It is not only a top sports event, but also a cultural and social event.

Das Fahrradrennen knüpft an die erfolgreiche Geschichte des Rennens aus den 70er und 80er Jahren an, bei dem sich die besten Radfahrer aus der Tschechoslowakei in Hlohovec trafen, um beim jährlich stattfindenden Freiheits-Wettkampf mit zu machen.
2011, Dank der Unterstützung der Stadt-Abgeordneten von Hlohovec, der Ortsansässigen und Sponsoren, konnte diese besondere Tradition wieder zum Leben erweckt werden. Mit diesem Frühjahres-Rennen eröffnet Hlohovec die Radsaison in Böhmen und Mähren. Es handelt sich hierbei nicht nur um ein herausragendes Sport-Ereignis, sondern auch um ein kulturelles und gesellschaftliches.

Die Ortschaft Hlohovec (Gemeinde Břeclav) ist bis heute der Tradition sehr stark verbunden. Zweimal im Jahr findet daher ein traditionelles Volksfest statt: einmal im Mai zu Ehren des Hl. Johannes Nepomuk, dem Heiligen von Böhmen
Ein Wein- und Federweißer Fest (österr. “Sturm”, schweiz. “Sauser”) der guten Laune. Man bekommt hier viele volkstümliche Kostüme zu Gesicht, ethnographische Kinder-Ensembles, sowie Männer- und Frauenchöre. Aber auch moderne Musik hat ihren Platz auf der Bühne.
Im Schloss findet das jährliche St. Martins Fest statt mit der Verkostung regionaler junger Weine von Mikulov. Am Hauptplatz gibt es außerdem Kultur- und Musikveranstaltungen. Am 11. November bekommt Mikulov Besuch vom Hl.
Dieses Weinfest sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen! Der erste „Federweiße/ bzw. -rote“ Südmährens („burcák“ – in Österreich auch „Sturm“, in der Schweiz „Sauser“ genannt) kann verkostet werden… und natürlich auch jede Menge „richtigen“ Weins… direkt von Hlohovecer Winzern.
