Znojmo, Podyjí National Park (77 km) – a beautiful historic town on the banks of the River Dyje (Thaya) is definitely worth a visit and of course we also recommend hiking along the marked hiking trails through the Podyjí National Park. For the possibility of beautiful views of the canyon of the river Dyje (Thaya), we recommend that you visit the ruins of the New Castle near Lukov, just outside the Austrian Hardegg castle.
The Vranov nad Dyjí Castle is at the very beginning of the Vranov Dam. The ruins of Cornštejn Castle and the Bítov Castle are somewhat more distant targets around the Vranov Dam, but if you are adventurous and have lots of energy then it is worthwhile visiting. From Cornštejn and the lookout tower, Rumburak, in front of Bítov, there is a beautiful view of the Bítov Bay of the Vranov Reservoir.
