Falkenstein Castle near Poysdorf

Falkenstein Castle (20 km) – is a freely accessible ruin of a castle towering directly above the village of the same name. The current owner, Georg Thum-Vrints has opened the castle ruin to visitors again. You can take a paid guided tour in the Summer, from May to September, on Sundays or on Feast days at 3pm, in groups of at least 8 people and the old walls will reveal their secrets. You can learn interesting things about the history of the building and its former residents. A small museum with its findings helps you visualize the life in those medieval times.

Once a month there is a special invitation for children. Young children can take the Betty Bernstein adventure tour (from May to September on the last Saturday of every month at 3pm) and experience many things about the life of children in a middle-age-castle, which include diverse games, arts and crafts. The tours are suitable for children from 5 years upwards.
